The Survival Kids series (released on Game Boy and Game Boy Color) makes the leap to the Nintendo DS. You play as Daichi. Together with a heroine called Aoi, you attempt to escape a deserted island. You'll use the stylus to collect food and items, combining them to new items. Players must hone their skills at all sorts of survival tasks, including hunting animals and gathering supplies, as well as cooking the food for sustenance. It's also important to establish a good relationship between the two characters, since the game's ending depends on your social skills and how you've developed the friendship and lifestyle on the island.
