The D-Link DP-101 is an Ethernet Print Server that attaches directly to a parallel printer. The DP-101 manages the flow of print files from network workstations or servers to its connected printer, freeing file servers and workstations from printing tasks. Its IEEE 802.3 Ethernet port and IEEE 1284 parallel interface allow it to connect virtually all Parallel printers directly to an Ethernet based LAN. The DP-101 provides the necessary advanced features, wide protocol support, and ease of use to fit well into networks ranging from small home networks, to the largest enterprise networks.??The DP-101 ships complete with all the necessary software and drivers to attach to most PC or MAC networks. Affordable and excellent print server

Pros: Works flawlessly!

Cons: You must know some tricks to simplify the installation.

The Bottom Line: Install your printer normally for parallel port. Then add a TCP/IP port. Easier that way!

Review: The normal installation of this print server, as with other print servers, goes through the "Add Printer" technique in Windows.

My printer, a Samsung ML-4500, is normally installed using a setup executable. Normally, once the printer driver...

Networking Printing Made Cheap, Though Not Easy

Pros: Works great, cheap way to turn a printer into a network printer

Cons: Difficult to configure, poorly written instructions

The Bottom Line: If you're looking for a cheap way to network a printer, and you have the patience to tinker with settings and decipher poorly-written documentation, then it's worth the price.
