Though the second disc of this 1999 show from New Jersey (a state with a marked predeliction for Phish-phriendliness) indulges in covers of Los Lobos' lovely, folk-inflected "When the Circus Comes" and the Beatles' classic, George Harrison-penned rock ballad "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," LIVE PHISH VOL 6 gives no short shrift to Phish's own quirky compositions. Just lend an ear to the quirky construction of "Wilson" (with whose intricacies this audience seems well acquainted) or the funky, bass-slapping, clavinet banging jamfest of "Tweezer" for reassurance that Vermont's favorite sons need rely on no one else's song catalogue. As is the case at virtually any Phish performance, the crowd sounds to be in the palm of the band's collective hand, and perhaps vice versa, if we're to glean anything from lyrics such as "Golgi Apparatus"'s impassioned repetition of "I saw you with a...
