Epinions excellent iron!

by  ewalrus,  Jul 7, 2006
Pros: quick to heat up, works great
Cons: heavy (con for some)
Review: I registered for this iron when we got married last summer. I chose this one because it was a Consumer Reports best buy. I have been very pleased with its performance. It heats up quickly, glides well, and presses wrinkles well. I use the steam burst ...

Epinions Black & Decker D2020 Iron: So far, so Good!

by  mql1208,  Jan 31, 2008
Pros: It works
Cons: The digital heat setting has to be increased before it can be decreased.
The Bottom Line: The iron works as it should, includes all the features I can think of, and isn't expensive.
Review: WHY Early December, our last iron (a Sunbeam)started leaking and spitting so it was time for a replacement. I don't know if it's the cause or effect, but we never invest much money in the irons we buy, because we never seem to hold on to one too long. ...

Epinions Great Iron

by  boinie57,  Nov 10, 2005
Pros: Cover on water fill opening
Cons: Takes a long time to empty the water.
Review: I purchased this iron after my 100 dollar plus Rowenta died in the middle of ironing. It lasted only 3 years. Pretty sad for a 100 dollar iron. I did some research on the Internet plus a popular consumer magazine for the best iron and this one kept ...

Epinions Black & Decker D2020 Iron with 10minute? Shut-off

by  mikeinmadison,  Sep 7, 2007
Pros: 10minute Auto-off vertical. Beeps when at temperature and auto-off. Large opening for water.
Cons: 10 minute shutdown when immobile horizontally&tipped over. Beep is too quiet to be useful.
The Bottom Line: Do not buy, 10 minute shut-down in horizontal or tipped-over condition is too long to be safe.
Review: Sept 7, 2007 I purchased the B&D D2020 from Target for $40, and promptly returned it the next day. I have had a B&D iron for over 10 years and it worked very well all this time, it gave me a healthy beep that I could hear from the other room when the ...

Epinions B&D Digital Iron Disappointment

by  kwentz,  Jun 27, 2007
Pros: Quick, accurate, no guesswork
Cons: Not reliable, performance and lifetime poor in new product
The Bottom Line: The purchase of this iron should not have to be a crap-shoot. Would not purchase again.
Review: I purchased two of these irons in the last two years - one in 2006 and one in January 2007 both for regular, typical household use. I purchased the digital edition because a relative had one and there are clear digital settings per type of clothing. The ...

Epinions Worked well for 3 months

by  ginnypat,  Aug 7, 2006
Pros: light and heated up quickly
Cons: after ironing 3 shirts, it overheated and burned through cover on board
Review: I purchased this iron as an upgrade and gift to myself. The iron worked very well for 3 months. While ironing shirts and with no other warning the iron started beeping and it heated up to a temperature that burned right through the ironing board cover, ...

Epinions Died after maximum 6 hours of use

by  Leefall,  Jan 9, 2007
Pros: Good while it worked
Cons: Died after 6 hours use
The Bottom Line: Do not buy this iron. Short lifespan.
Review: B&D calls this a digital advantage iron. I have renamed it a B&D digital dis-advantage iron. After having previously used a no-name basic iron for many years which finally broke when it fell off the ironing board I decided to "get with it" and buy a ...

Epinions Stay away from B&D DA Irons!

by  clawsnoel,  Mar 9, 2007
Pros: Features, performance
Cons: Just another example of retail junk - hazardous, at that
The Bottom Line: Do not buy this iron, unless you are hoping to get lucky. Might want to try an analog (non-digital) one instead. Very disappointed in B&D.
Review: My wife did research and shopped around, looking for a good quality iron. Black & Decker is (was) a good name for household appliances, and this iron has the features we wanted, so we bought it. First off, the price was fair, and the features were ...

Epinions STAY AWAY - Burned up! Hazardous!

by  cirripedia,  Jan 19, 2008
Pros: Digital was precise, steam was good.
Cons: Short service life, no service from B&D, product is dangerous (read other reviews as well)
Review: This iron was chosen to replace an old Sunbeam that provided years of service. After 6 months, this iron failed (digital control indicated 8 and yet it only was suppose to go to 7). This happened after the lights flickered and the stereo shut off. The ...

Epinions Fried Iron

by  picky2,  Jan 19, 2008
Pros: It was good while it lasted.
Cons: It didn't last long enough.
Review: After much research & recommended reviews I elected to purchase the B&D 2020 in December 2006, my 1st B&D iron. I really liked it, using it on average 4-5 hours per month. After only 18 months it suddenly went "bezerk". After ironing a few minutes it ...
