Epinions If you need a B&W laser MFC for a PC, buy this!

by  pilchard,  Jan 12, 2005
Pros: Wonderful function, 22ppm B&W laser, network scanner/printer, USB 2 and ethernet connectivity for $199.
Cons: USB connection was problematic, Paperport upgrade was difficult. Fan a bit noisy.
The Bottom Line: State of the art in B&W laser MFC devices. If you're in the market for this type of device, look no further. Ethernet printing / scanning on this device rules!
Review: The Dell 1600n is a triumph of and reflects the current state of the art in multifunction B&W laser devices. It has an integrated 22ppm laser printer, a wonderful scanner which can be used in flatbed or adf mode (in flatbed it's restricted to 8.5x11 ...

Epinions If you need a B&W laser MFC for a PC, buy this (2)

by  andy_fraley,  Feb 26, 2005
Pros: - Price - Features
Cons: - Watch out for Dell chat support and long queues for phone support
The Bottom Line: But it. Best features for price. Watch out for Dell chat support and long phone queues.
Review: A previous review of the Dell 1600n hit the nail on the head. Rather than rehash details of that full and detailed review, just refer to it at h ttp://www.epinions.com/content _169348927108. I had a couple things to ...

Epinions Reliable printer

by  ljkdhall,  Jul 13, 2006
Pros: Built-in networking standard, reliable feed mechanism, easy to service, very inexpensive for Multifunction laser
Cons: Takes a while to wake up from "sleep" mode.
Review: Our business now has 6 of these, in various departments. Nice when we need network printing, faxing, and light-duty copying all in one machine. Overall, very pleased. Don't use the scanning function in most departments, so can't speak to that. But, ...

Epinions This machine works well for the money.

by  carsdotcom1,  Dec 18, 2005
Pros: Small footprint. works well, has a power save, to cut off the fan automatically.
Cons: Too many people looking for this machine to operate like a $10,000.00 laser printer.
Review: We purchased this machine, and replaced a Brother MFC-8440 ( which is a great machine) The dell worked well in all phases. And as for the fan concern, the manual does not cover the answer for this. I found it by mistake. Just push the menu button until ...

Epinions Bought at good price with online coupons

by  andrewma,  Oct 31, 2005
Pros: A lot of features in one package. Does most things well.
Cons: Loud fan, scanning software for network is questionable.
The Bottom Line: For the $350 or so that I spent, I'm happy. It replaced a Brother all in one inkjet monster that took up more room and constantly ran out of ink.
Review: I was lucky and got some pretty good discounts with online coupons so for the $300 or so that I spent, not a bad deal to replace my old inkjet fax machines. I had seen the same problems as some of the other posters. The printing is not all that ...

Epinions Dell 1600n - Poor Choice

by  btacatering,  Sep 28, 2005
Pros: Price, size
Cons: Misfeed, Confusing, Toner usage, warming up
The Bottom Line: Don't buy this one
Review: Our small office had a leased machine with the "same" functionality, the contract was up and I checked into the Dell 1600n. The savings were huge $298 for the machine + $198 for a 3 yr service agreement vs. $144 a month for our leased machine. The ...

Epinions Dell's 1600n - A Poor Choice

by  tommykat1,  Mar 14, 2005
Pros: Handsome with gray and black accents
Cons: Loud! Fan is always on! No sleep mode. Print quality is fair.
The Bottom Line: Poor choice. Noisy. Power hog. Your electrical bill will suffer. You have to buy toner cartridges from Dell. There are much better products out there in the same price range.
Review: As a fan of Dell notebooks, I jumped at the chance to replace my aging all-in-one laser printer with Dell's first entry in the AIO market. The 1600n's attractive gray and black accents on a relatively small, rectangular footprint--compared to its Canon, ...

Epinions Poor Quality

by  luisbatiz,  Jan 24, 2007
Pros: Fax utilities are good. Prints fast until the jams start
Cons: Poor manufacture and defective design.
Review: I have had three 1600n printers since July 2005. The first printer broke down around March or April 2006. Dell sent a new one which never worked. The "new" printer broke the laser cartridges. Dell had to send a new replacement the same day I received the ...
