Nothing Spectacular, but Good Enough

I purchased this camera in July of this year to replace a broken camera. This is actually my first non-HP digital point and shoot camera, so I was not sure what to expect.

The Fuji FinePix is a lightweight, simple camera with cutesy options like purchasing it in hot pink or neon green (mine is green).

My first experience with the camera was okay, no major problems, fairly easy to figure out and operate without serious study of the owner's manual (always a plus!) The lens cover moves smoothly across the lens for quick picture taking so it is a good option with kids who are always doing something cute at a moment's notice. The pixels are certainly high enough for taking good photos of kids at parks, family shots at amusement parks, and the random reunion pics, but I certainly would not use this camera for any keepsake/heirloom photos. The video option is one of the better ones I've seen in current digital cameras, less grainy and much better audio.

I do have a few complaints though. The camera is very sensitive when I'm carrying it in my well padded camera case as it will turn itself on just from the pressure of me hooking the camera case onto my belt loop. Also, the anti-blur feature is difficult and appears, to me, to make the picture worse than if you just went with the small amount of blur in your typical picture with movement. Lastly, the battery does not last as long as I would hope, therefore making carrying the charger (semi-bulky) on even short trips a necessity.

Overall, the camera is good enough. It's nothing special and certainly not the be-all-end-all, but it is light-weight enough for young people and easy enough for old folks like me. It would certainly be a great option for your budding "photog" in the family to take excellent vacation photos, suitable for scrapbooking!
