Epinions GE Spacemaker Is A Great Buy

by  BryRrose,  Dec 21, 2001
Pros: Many options to choose from, Easy Cleaning
Cons: I haven't found one yet.
The Bottom Line: Great microwave with many options
Review: When we bought our new home about six months ago, it came outfitted with GE (General Electric) kitchen appliances. I was thrilled, I love General Electric. However, the standard appliances that came with the home didn't have the bells and whistles that...

Epinions GE Profile Microwave Review: Bells, Whistles, Buttons & Messages!

by  AliventiAsylum,  May 16, 2001
Pros: cooks, reheats and defrosts conveniently, cleans up great, convenient location over stove
Cons: installation can be difficult
The Bottom Line: This oven functions better than a lot of other microwaves on the market and then some!
Review: For six years we had a regular countertop microwave. I had wanted an over-the-stove model, but I'd heard horror stories from people who had them and had problems. After doing a little research, I found out that if the mounting guidelines are followed, ...

Epinions MVM1660WB GE 1.6 Spacemaker Microwave

by  wallx4,  Jun 19, 2002
Pros: Reasonably priced; wonderful features; beautiful night light; cooks well.
Cons: Opening and shutting the door is a real pain! Way too loud and clunky!
The Bottom Line: I'm happy with it except for the hideous loud banging sound when you open it and close it! Can't they improve on this feature????
Review: What a beautiful unit this is! My last GE over the counter oven lasted 9 years and I was sorry to see it go but this microwave has more elaborate features, cooks better, and is larger inside. I paid $364.99 for it yesterday and thought that was a good...

Epinions Love the many features. Premature failure of magnetron tube

by  gemboy,  Dec 23, 2005
Pros: This unit with sensor cooking is really top of the line in performance.
Cons: GE Customer Service could provide more information if a customer provides model, serial number, etc.
The Bottom Line: Now that I understand how GE's Customer Service does business, I would recommend as it looks like GE has fixed the problem with the stirrer and magnetron tube.
Review: Unit was manufactured in November 2000. Purchased and installed in March 2001. Everything worked just great until November 2005 when the magnetron tube went out. Called GE for warranty service but asked for an estimate of the total repair as I was ...

Epinions Cooks very evenly, but too many minuses

by  lohroffc,  Aug 24, 2004
Pros: Cooks evenly and quickly. Crisp clean look. One-touch cooking is nice.
Cons: Yowza, this baby's fan is LOUD! Cumbersome to set the clock.
The Bottom Line: If you'll be using the vent fan feature, test its volume in the store before buying. There are probably other microwaves that cook as evenly and will serve you better.
Review: We purchased this microwave to replace a Kenmore vintage 1987 microwave and a range hood. It was installed in April 2003, so I've used it for over 1 year now. The feature I use all the time is the one-touch cooking. Very convenient! I also like ...

Epinions Attractive, not very convenient to use.

by  geoh48,  Jan 3, 2002
Pros: Even turntable cooking, attractive appearance.
Cons: Disappointing ease of use.
The Bottom Line: If you are used to certain convenience features in your present microwave, be sure to put this oven through its paces before buying.
Review: This unit replaced an ancient microwave, about 20 years old. I was disappointed to find that convenience features and certain controls I took for granted on the old unit are missing: all the more so, because this top-line unit has all the "bells and...

by  jeffreydvd,  Jul 15, 2005
Pros: Automatic cooking works great Great looks, features
Cons: Magnetron is an acknowledged defect FROM GE during 1999-2000
The Bottom Line: Not sure if its still made, but buy it if it wasnt made in 99-2000
Review: We purchased this new with our house just about 4.5 years ago. We purchased it because of the good reputation of the GE Profile series. Styling is great in my opinion. The automatic cooking settings are great on this microwave are excellent as long ...

Epinions Wow, I am open-mouthed . . .

by  momneedscoffee,  Oct 26, 2006
Pros: One-Touch Cooking, Racks, Reminder Button
Cons: Setting the clock is annoying. Changing the lightbulb could cost you $200 or more.
Review: As I was reading travvisb's review I was astonished to find my own story unfolding before me. Even including the selling our house part. Foolishly, I thought I had done something wrong when I tried to replace the lightbulb and heard the loud POP and ...

Epinions Magnetron Tube burns out - Bad warranty

by  mtheroux,  Jan 15, 2005
Pros: The styling, controls, and over range lighting were pretty nice.
Cons: Time/date must be reset each power loss. GE warranty & service is horrible.
Review: I don't have a whole lot to say about this unit, except it came with the house and it had been pretty nice while it worked. Now to the chase... The unit is just under 5 years old and has had very little use. The magnetron tube is burned out. My ...

by  thylena,  Mar 23, 2006
Pros: none
Cons: Magnatron failure, causes fires, No good customer support system.
The Bottom Line: Do not buy this product the customer relations is poor and there seem to be saftey issues with the product.
Review: We Bought our GE microwave because in the past the brand had held up well for us. We like the options for our new house. The unit seemed to be working fine but was loud, after 13 months the unit started sparking and making loud noises and shutting off. ...
