Epinions Portable Mapquest - The Successor

by  nad_masters,  Feb 5, 2008
Pros: Many features, Faster calculation, easy mounting
Cons: Questionable routes.
The Bottom Line: A feature-filled sat nav for your car.
Review: The Garmin nuvi 760 is my replacement for the aging Ga rmin StreetPilot III I have owned since the early millennium. The old workhorse did it's job, but newer models have more map data onboard, faster calculation times, ...

Epinions Outstanding GPS with solid features!

by  markjrenna,  Jul 8, 2008
Pros: Beautiful and bright 4.3" screen with “Text To Speech”, Traffic, and Bluetooth.
Cons: No carry case or house AC adapter are far from show stoppers.
The Bottom Line: The Nuvi 760 has all of the features one would want in a PND. Add the Portable Friction Mount and this is arguably the best GPS on the market today!
Review: My wife and I have been using Garmin C320 GPS in each of our cars since 2005. It was time for an upgrade. I purchased the Garmin Nuvi 760 and we love it. Here is a little overview about how I decided what to get and some of the key features we had to ...

Epinions A MUST for travellers!!

by  happybooker1,  Jun 19, 2008
Pros: Quick loading, easy disconnect, cable on the mounting bracket, varied points of interest
Cons: none so far
Review: Best invention for travellers since radar detectors!! Quick access to points of interest; nice guides; keeps you from getting lost! Easy to plan & store routes, find ANYTHING you need close to where you are (Starbucks, libraries, Walmarts, etc.) at ...

Epinions Nuvis are for consumers

by  bramfrank,  Jun 14, 2008
Pros: Excellent form factor, sensitive receiver, quick turn on, simple interface
Cons: Poor speakerphone, can't configure display fields, no carrying case, tech support full of itself.
The Bottom Line: It is inexpensive and feature laden. It represents an excellent value today.
Review: I now have a Nuvi 760 installed on the windshield of my car. I happen to like Garmin navigators in general, but the Nuvi and Zumo series miss the mark for the 'experienced' among us - and quality is lacking somewhat in some areas as well. I used ...

Epinions Garmin 760: Will Show You The Way!

by  noslein303,  Jul 21, 2008
Pros: Accurate, Awesome Features
Cons: Expensive
The Bottom Line: This is a higher end GPS unit, it has the extra features (which you won't be disappointed by), but Garmin sure charges a heck of a lot for them.
Review: I have been using the Garmin 760 while doing my job as a police officer. Prior to this, I had been using a much bulkier Street Pilot ColorMap for the past 8 years before it finally died, and also a Garmin 200W. I was immediately impressed with the 760 ...

Epinions A good, general purpose device, not excellent

by  rhumba2008,  Aug 7, 2008
Pros: Solid-performing device; Quickly locate POIs and address lookups
Cons: As described in body - it lacks some much needed features available in other devices
Review: I just came back from a 4000 miles trip going from the Central USA to the east and visited most of the original 13 colonies. My Nuvi 760 performed very well, but lack some features found on my Tomtom device. Here's my list: - ETA is based on origin ...

Epinions Current critic's champ- but I found it mediocre.

by  dkla2001,  Apr 16, 2008
Pros: Small. Elegant. Nice Design. Up to date maps. Easy to use
Cons: Routes are "iffy", Blue tooth/FM transmitter don't work
The Bottom Line: This is not a bad unit. But it's not the superior unit many online reviews are claiming it is. For the price I've paid it wasn't worth it.
Review: I bought this one, cause it seemed to be the current reigning online champion by most critics and reviewers from some of the leading publications. It's gotten spectacular reviews everywhere. But my experience with this unit was mediocre at best. ...

Epinions Another viable option for GPS consumers

by  daleb,  Jun 18, 2008
Pros: Very transparent Bluetooth implementation, user friendly operation and a very bright and attractive display.
Cons: Potential costs for battery replacement, limited routing options, skimpy owner's manual.
The Bottom Line: I recommend it if you take the time to fully understand how use it best.
Review: BUYING DECISIONS: Price is always a good motivator and when I saw the 760 at Costco for almost half it's original MSRP I was hooked. We have a StreetPilot 2650 and recently sold a 2610. Both are older technology, bulky but still decent sized screens ...

Epinions Great GPS - Not so GREAT FM

by  snowaviation,  Jan 4, 2008
Pros: Fast sattellite acquisition, great reception, long battery life, easy to use.
Cons: Poor FM transmitter, FM traffic reciever not usefull in my area, poorly designed power connector.
Review: Got the 760 for Christmas looks great, works great, easy to use, signal lock is fast and even works inside my house. The mapping features search features and Points of Interest features are all easy to use and very handy. The FM transmitter is not ...

Epinions An experienced GPS RoadWarrior is not impressed with Garmin

by  njronbo,  Apr 27, 2008
Pros: Pretty map display. Shows speed limit where available.
Cons: No chime at turn. Actually got me lost.
The Bottom Line: If you want reliable support and map updates you can't do better than Garmin. If you want accurate directions and pinpointed turns you need to go with Magellan.
Review: I was probably among the very first consumers to own a GPS unit when they first appeared on the market several years ago. I was completely turned on to them thanks to renting an AVIS vehicle with their included "never lost" GPS unit. I ended up buying ...
