Epinions Beam Me Up Scottie!

by  linmk2,  Oct 28, 2005
Pros: Breathtaking picture, "out of this world" styling, many picture size options, built-in HD/SD tuners.
Cons: Rather high price, some may find fault with placing DVD players and the like.
The Bottom Line: The first commitment of a TV is to deliver a great picture. This one does it in spades, plus it looks great in your den. How could you want more?
Review: The history of Television When televisions were first offered to the public in the late 1940's, they were all built with Cathode Ray Tube technology. Every television since, both B&W and color, have been built with this technology. In last few ...

Epinions Great Wacko-looking Television

by  allenjauchen,  Jan 5, 2006
Pros: Awesome picture, displays happy smiley face when you turn it on
Cons: Love/Hate styling
Review: My husband and I bought this TV because Samsung DLP was supposed to be the best. It is. Also, we got a great deal (only $2000). We only watch movies on it, so I don't have any idea about all the extras (e.g., PIP). The most striking thing about ...

by  roadkingcourt,  Jul 8, 2007
Pros: Picture quality is awsome! Very light weight and easy to move.
Cons: Will need a AV stand for your components
Review: LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!! Just upgraded from a Samsung 47" to this 50" DLP. I use my tv for my home theater (no use to go to the movies when you can have your own at home) Movies, video games, and tv from time to time. I am very pleased thus far with this ...

Epinions Great TV So So Picture Depending on your source

by  theelysium,  Oct 6, 2007
Pros: Color, Fit & Finish, Video Game's Picture, Sound, HD Picture
Cons: Horid SD (480) Image, Only 1 HDMI port, Unforgiving with signal quality, Awkward Stand!
The Bottom Line: Dedicate This TV to Video Games, HD DVD or HD Signals. Any SD, AVI, 480 signals look horrid! Awkward Stand!
Review: I've own one of these for the last 1 1/2. The TV looks amazing as far as it's presentation. The fit and finish are above most TV even new ones! But, lets talk about what's important, it's performance. The last two reviews I think were a bit harsh. ...

Epinions Very poor picture quality.

by  robertd33,  Jun 30, 2007
Pros: Looks nice when it's off.
Cons: Poor picture quality, very poor picture quality, extremely poor picture quality... get the idea?
The Bottom Line: The picture quality is very, very poor. It has many nice features & handy menu items, but you buy a TV for the picture.
Review: The Samsung HL-R5087W was easy to setup and use, and it has nice options & features, but picture quality is not one of those features. For the price paid ($1700), I expect a MUCH better display. Is this thing really an HD? DVD's are horrible. Satellite ...

Epinions Do not buy!

by  kasmith,  Aug 3, 2005
Pros: Samsung has a great DLP picture.
Cons: too many to list....
Review: I have had this TV since November 2004.... I have had nothing but problems. We have had Samsung out several times to fix issues with the picture.... and now the sound is out. Samsung stopped making this TV and it has only been out in the last year. ...
