The Bottom Line:
This is a great, inexpensive, lightweight, easy to use, functional mixer. If this is what you want, for the price you can't go wrong.

I bought the Proctor Silex Easy Mix 5 speed Hand Mixer Model 62515 when I was on the Atkins Diet. I used it mostly to whip cream although I have used it to make puddings and mix brownie mixes that are in a box. I rarely cook from scratch. This little gadget has been perfect for me. I dont have a lot of room in my kitchen nor would I use a big appliance that mixes. This fits easily in my cabinet.
About the product:
~It comes with 2 chrome beaters that easily snap into the hole in the bottom of the mixer. When you push on the speed control at the top of the mixer, the beaters will come out. That is the eject button and there is picture of the 2 beaters so show you where you put down. It could say eject and that might be more helpful.
~The cord is not retractable nor does it hide itself in anyway. I doubt that anyone would keep this on a counter top but if you did you might not like this because it does have a long cord that takes 5 turns to go around the mixer.
~The speeds are 1-5 and I have found that there really is a difference between the speeds. I had a blender and I could not tell the difference between the various positions. I couldnt tell if something was mixing or blending but with this Proctor Silex, it will be slow on 1 and fast on 5. You wont be able to mistake it. On 5, the beaters do go fast and youll want to make sure that whatever is in your bowl isnt right up to the top or it will splash. Also at that fast pace if you hit the sides of the bowl, make sure you are holding the bowl because it will move it around a bit. None of these are negatives. It is just the way the product works and I used it daily for quite a long time with no complaints.
~The bottom has a bowl rest. It says bowl rest by the vents and this feature comes in handy. There is just a slight indentation on the bottom of the mixer that allows you to rest it on the side of the bowl keeping your counter a little neater if you have to walk away while you are in the middle of mixing.
~It is 125 watts
~It is lightweight. At 2 1/4 pounds almost anyone can lift it and use it. (I got the weight from kitchencollection.com).
What does it look like?
~That same site calls it Euro style. I am not sure what that means! It is attractive enough, maybe a bit on the modern side, which is where the Euro style comes from.
~There is a handle on top with a 2-inch gap where your hand goes. Unless you are of gigantic proportions your hand will easily fit into this and easily grip the handle.
~It is 7 inches long, 4 1/2 inches high with the beaters being an additional 5 1/4 inches each. At its widest it is 2 1/4 inches wide.
~Mine is white which I believe to be the only color it comes in.
~As I said the cord is not the most attractive I have seen, but this is such a simple product and so small, that its looks are not all that relevant unless you are considering it as a gift. If you want to buy a hand held mixer as a gift I would go for one that is more than $10.00 and does have a cord that can be hidden.
How it works and gets cleaned:
~All you do is put in the beaters, plug in the machine and push the black switch from off to whatever number you want.
~The mixer itself hardly gets dirty. If there are a few spots on it, I just wipe it down with a sponge. The beaters of course will have cream or batter on them. After you have licked off all remnants, just wash the beaters with soapy water. When I was using it mainly for cream, there was so little left on the beaters that I just ran them under hot water and all residue was gone. I have put them in the dishwasher with no ill effects, but they are so easy to clean, you wont have to bother.
Warranty:
There is a limited 2-year warranty. The website is www.proctorgamble.com with the parent company being Hamilton Beach. The warranty is for defects in materials or workmanship.
My final thoughts:
This mixer costs $10.00. If you want something very simple this is terrific. If you do a lot of cooking or are giving a mixer as a gift I would go with one that is more expensive and a bit more updated. This works for me, though, and if I have described you, it will work for you!
