Author's Review

I find myself occasionally stumped on what to make for lunch or dinner. Being a college student, I am limited on what I can afford to make, while at the same time wondering what is fast and easy so I don't fall behind in my schedule.

I soon found that mixing things the traditional way, with a spoon in hand became time consuming and limited my opportunities of what to make. I came to the conclusion that I needed help. That help would come in the form of a hand mixer.

When looking for a hand mixer, that I knew I desperately needed, I gravitated towards the Hamilton Beach 200 Watts 62684 Hand Mixer. It seemed to have everything that I needed and when I saw the price, I snatched that sucker up as fast as I could. Only about 17 dollars! I was in heaven.

After using my hand mixer, I have found that it has everything I need. It has six different speeds, a set of beaters plus a wire whisk, and is easy to use. What more could I person need?

I can do things from mixing simple ingredients to whipping egg whites to make my famous Angel Food cake. There are a few things I can't mix with my hand mixer, such as bread bough, but overall I can mix about anything. Like I mentioned before, it has six different speeds so I can use any one of these speeds depending on the food I am making. All speeds are needed at different times.

I don't have to use beaters all the time with my mixer because it also comes with a whisk. So if my beaters are dirty, and I am to lazy to wash them, then I can use plan B, the whisk. As most of you cooks know, there are times when using a whisk is more effective then beaters. When those times come I just pull out my handy dandy whisk.

When it comes time to using my mixer, all I have to do is open the cupboard, where it is stored, attach either the beaters or whisk and then, last but not least, plug it in. Set up is that easy. Now all I have to do it turn, and the ingredients are mixed (or whipped) right before my eyes. How much more easier can it get then that?

If at any time while using this handy machine I need to leave it for a second, I can simply turn it off and gently set it down on the edge of my bowl. It will stay there and it will not fall over. The bottom of the mixer is especially designed to sit on the edge of the bowl. This allows all ingredients to stay in the bowl and not adventure out onto my counter. By not having various ingredients on my counter, clean up is much easier, and in return saves time.

Overall this mixer is just fantastic and comes at an affordable price, even for a poor college student like me. I have enjoyed making various kinds of foods with my mixer and know that anyone else who uses it will find the same result.
