Absolutely for those who have room for only 1 appliance

by  guelph,   Aug 17, 2002

Pros:  Saves on cooking & clean up time. Enhances taste & quality. Energy efficient.

Cons:  Nothing major comes to mind.

The Bottom Line:  Good for people who hate cooking, who have no time for cooking, who live alone, who have no room for a barbecue, for a camper or trailer, students.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

My Hamilton Beach Grill 25325 was originally purchased as a barbecue substitute. But it has proved to be so convenient that I don’t use my stove and microwave much any more. Cooking for me isn't such a chore now. It can turn anyone into a pro chef overnight -- your friends & family will definitely ask "how did you make this?"

PROS
·Size is good for 2 people, best for 1.
·Foolproof, easier to use than a microwave. One knob turns it on, timer automatically shuts it off. Even teenagers can be taught how to use it. Great for students.
·Healthy -- no need for lots of oil, salt or seasonings in the cooking process.
·Short cooking time = energy efficient.
·The high cooking temperature not only makes for safer cooking, it makes food tastier than stove or oven cooking. Perfect for cooking frozen packaged meats like hamburgers & hotdogs straight from the freezer.
·Makes consistent quality food. You’ll never overcook or burn food. Timer controlled cooking allows grilling to exact tenderness, especially good for meats (fish, chicken, steak, pork). Works best with salmon & steak.
·Cuts down on prep time. No need to season or marinade food ahead of time. Brush on any prepared barbecue sauce & marinade (or just a little seasoning) just before grilling.
·Makes excellent grilled veggies – sprinkle on herbs while cooking or just before serving.
·Cleaning up time is a breeze without a pile of pots & pans.
·Non stick removable grills & drip tray clean in a minute with regular dishwashing detergent, a dish brush & hot water. Burnt on mess cleans off easily when left to cool down.

CONS
·Need to use in an area with plenty of ventilation. However, it doesn’t sit well on my stove top under the exhaust fan.
·Gets really hot, cools down slowly. Have to use oven gloves to open/close lid & handle unit when hot.
·Heavy & bulky (13 lbs) -- kids should not handle this appliance.

In Canada, available at most major stores like Canadian Tire and The Bay.
