Epinions Amazing VCR

by  smagoun,  Feb 23, 2000
Pros: amazing picture + sound quality
Cons: none
Review: This is the best VCR I have ever owned. I bought the predecessor (the 9500U) to play back some 3rd-generation video tapes that were in terrible shape. Most VCRs couldn't play back the tapes with any kind of picture or sound quality; the 9500, thanks to...

Pros: Picture Quality! Dynamic Drum System TBC Shuttle Remote Volume Level Control
Cons: Some functions are not remote-controllable. No manual index mark.
The Bottom Line: Overall though, its a super deck with a few shortcomings. Picture quality is unbeatable!

Epinions Best VCR under $1000

by  magnusmx,  Mar 6, 2001
Pros: Picture Quality. Features. TBC. Editing.
Cons: hmmm... Read my opinion.
The Bottom Line: Best VCR you can buy for under $1000.00. Get one before your store runs out. DO NOT get the 9800u, it is inferior.

by  gwvg,  Dec 14, 1999
Pros: Everything
Cons: Price
The Bottom Line: The best money can buy.
Review: Wow! This is the best VCR i've seen in my life. I love this thing. I printed off a pricesheet from jvc.com and took it to a local electronics store. They took the price down to 450$. All I can say is this thing is amazing. It has frame by frame and...

Epinions I like this VCR

by  thrasher32,  Feb 9, 2001
Pros: Great picture quality, reliable
Cons: Expensive, SVHS tapes are outrageous
The Bottom Line: The picture quality is excellent, the reliablility is very good (so far), and the tapes are too expensive.
Review: Well, I've owned the HR-S9600U for over a year now, and have had absolutely no problems with it thus far, even using the deck on a daily basis.

I must admit, I was leery about buying a JVC VCR. I have had problems with another JVC VCR (it...

Epinions Get a TiVo instead

by  badcu,  Mar 18, 2001
Pros: Quality pictures, lots of features
Cons: Very little use of it, expensive
The Bottom Line: Buy a cheaper VCR
Review: I bought this VCR for over 1 year and I only used it few times. Now with most movie avaliable on DVD and the invention of harddrive computer recorder (TiVo), VCR is not as useful as it was before. This JVC s-VHS VCR does have many extra editing...

Epinions Already a couple of problems

by  blairman2000,  Jul 10, 2000
Pros: Great picture, good sound.
Cons: Getting it to accept tapes of all kinds.
Review: I bought the 9600U because I read some glowing reviews on the picture quality, even with old tapes (which I have plenty of).

When I can get the machine to accept a tape, new or old, the recording and playback quality is almost as good as my...

Epinions Good until it break down which will be sooner than you think

by  mackeystingray,  Jan 7, 2000
Pros: Very good video quality
Cons: Quality issues make this unreliable
Review: I have the previous S-VHS model (9500) of their top of the line VCR, the 9600 which debuted sometime in 99. The only difference between these models is the jog/shuttle which is now also on the deck itself instead of exclusively on the remote control....
