Epinions This machine makes your VCR obsolete for cheap

by  kilgore_trout,  May 9, 2005
Pros: Great picture quality, lots of features, easy-to-use GUI interface and info messages on the unit.
Cons: None. Pioneer is a visionary company.
The Bottom Line: Buy one of these at your first opportunity, don't even think about the other brands, even Sony, over-rated and over-priced.
Review: Before I picked this up at WalMart for $199 plus tax, I had purchased a CyberHome DVD recorder based on the excellent quality and value of a CyberHome DVD player for $35. Big mistake, it sucked. I returned it and got this Pioneer and I am very glad I ...

Epinions Very Good Dvd Recorder

by  debbiezan,  Feb 8, 2005
Pros: Adjustable recording time, intuitive remote, solid reputation and reviews, lives up to expectations
Cons: Takes a while to get the hang of how to hook up and operate
The Bottom Line: This is a well constructed, well thought out recorder. Highly recommend.
Review: I purchased this dvd recorder about a week ago from Walmart for 224 (got discount due to the box not containing a user's manual). I have it hooked up to a hd cable box (SA 8300), and have burned about a dozen dvd's or so. I went to the Pioneer website ...

Epinions Great DVR

by  texashand,  Jul 23, 2008
Pros: Easy to set recorder; can set recurring recordings
Cons: 15 min recording blocks.
Review: We've had the DVR 220-s since Christmas 2004 and it's been wonderful. I just recently lost the remote (kids!) so I am looking for a replacement. I burn DVD's weekly of my favorite shows and have never had a problem. I don't know why the others have ...

Epinions Love this DVD recorder

by  sknapp,  Oct 4, 2004
Pros: Chase Play; Ease of use; Slim design
Cons: None yet. Does everything I expected and does it well.
Review: Bought this because I was sick of poor quality VHS tape recordings. The quality on this is very good even in the 4-HR mode(noticable fuzziness in 6-HR). It is extremely easy to use and the remote is also very user-friendly. I haven't yet converted any ...

Epinions Bought at Walmart / what was I thinking

by  volicity,  Aug 21, 2004
Pros: I honestly couldn't find any.
Cons: Very confusing to operate, not made for HDTV or high end TV's
The Bottom Line: Not recommended for people that like quality picture and sound.
Review: I shop at Walmart for most of my household items, I happen to go into the electronics dept. I saw this DVD recorder, so I thought I would try it. It is very confusing to use, you just don't press play and it plays, you have to be in video 1,2,3,4 or 5, ...

Epinions Buy the Service Plan

by  mildog6,  Jan 19, 2008
Pros: Worked pretty well for approximately one year.
Cons: No service or concern for the consumer after one year is up.
Review: This was truly an easy to use system, and we were able to transfer nearly all of our home videos on to dvd discs: however, just after one year of ownership, it simply quit. No smoke, no odor, no sound, no warning whatsoever. Also, because I neglected ...

Epinions Power supply board failed after 14 months

by  belkinf5d82314,  Mar 25, 2008
Pros: The unit functioned as advertised prior to the failure.
Cons: I assume this failure is common re: depletion of spare parts.
Review: The power supply board (VWR1378)failed (filter capacitors shorted/burst taking out the rectifiers). Pioneer has no replacement available for this board. I have been unable to locate a repair center with a spare board in stock. ...
