We bought this thing because I like fries. We just bought it about 6 months ago. Brought it home, made homemade fries, fried 'em up, and WOW! They were great. I loved this thing because it didn't take a ton of oil. It will hold up to four cups of oil.
I have used this for fries, doughnuts, fish, vegetables, chicken. I love it because it cooks evenly and fast. The cord detaches, making it easier to clean and more sanitary than those fryers that have permanent cords. The only thing I really don't like about it is that the lid is plastic. I would like a metal lid, so when you lower wettish foods into the hot oil, you can slip the lid on until the severe popping stops. If you try that with the plastic lid, you will end up with plasic all in your food.
This fryer also came with a food scoop, which comes in really handy for lowering food into the oil without splashing. It is also great to scoop food out with, as it is wide and has slots. There are several sizes by Rival, including one that holds two cups of oil. That one is perfect for small families, whereas the larger model is great for large families and for entertaining.
All in all, I would recommend this to everyone, especially those who like french fries that are hot, golden and crisp.
