Epinions Sennheiser HD-580 Headphones: Hearing is Believing

by  symbiosis, top reviewer in Electronics ,  Sep 17, 2005
Pros: Excellent overall balanced sound, solid construction, top-notch comfort
Cons: Somewhat polite vocals, occasional minor congestion of high frequency sounds during very complex passages.
The Bottom Line: The Bottom Line is seriously addicted to well-reproduced music.
Review: I have recently gone on a bit of a headphone quest. During this time, I have come to realize that while I really enjoy the sound of my G rado SR-125s, the comfort is simply unacceptable. I have recently started to ...

Epinions Found Sound: A chronicle of addiction by an audiophile apprentice.

by  tootsweet824,  Jun 27, 2001
Pros: The sound quality will blow you away, and they are more comfy than cashmere pajamas.
Cons: Neither "cheap" nor small, plus you may have to buy a new stereo.
The Bottom Line: If you have the means and the desire, buy these headphones (or splurge on the HD-600s) and listen to the magic.
Review: I have recently developed a problem that has already reached its breaking point. The problem is, my desire for high-quality music is rapidly expanding, and my financial status is rapidly not.

It is entirely the fault of my audiophile friend...

Epinions A Musician's Perspective ...

by  drawbars,  Apr 29, 2002
Pros: Great even sound: warm bass, clear midrange and treble. Lightweight and open.
Cons: Big. They need a strong source to drive them well.
The Bottom Line: For the price, they can't be beat. If you need realism for mixdown, programming, and monitoring, this is your headphone.
Review: I'll start off by saying that this review takes a different angle than most others. I'm a performing and recording musician who uses headphones for rehearsing, and for laying down tracks. I guess you could say I'm a bit of an audiophile -- I've spent...

Epinions High-end sound anywhere

by  bgabel,  Oct 15, 1999
Pros: Produces smooth, natural-sounding music; resolves the smallest details; endlessly listenable; very comfortable
Cons: Limited dynamic presentation; laid-back sound does not appeal to all
Review: For years I had used the cheap headphones that you often find in portable CD and tape player sets. When those pairs inevitably broke, I typically bought a "nicer" $30 pair from the likes of Sony or Panasonic. I consider myself an audiophile,...

Epinions The All Around Best Headphone!

by  Tyll,  Sep 23, 1999
Pros: Super comfortable, sounds great, great value.
Cons: Not Perfect (See Sennheiser 600s)
Review: The Sennheiser 580 is simply the best all around headphone. Now, I like the Sennheiser 600 better in in every way---but only slightly. The 600's cost about $100 more, and therein lies the rub: Is the 600 $100 better than the 580. Tough call!

Epinions Sennheiser HD-580: Don't Know if You Want to Pay $200 for headphones?

by  ak2525,  Oct 14, 2001
Pros: Perfect sound quality, good highs and lows. COMFORTABLE!
Cons: Sound is too perfect! catches the errors of recording sometimes. DSP is horrible.
The Bottom Line: A little big for everyday use, but the sound makes up for this.
Review: Being a Headphone Enthusiast I can clearly say that these are one of the best in the market today!

I received my HD580 and DSP combo that is currently being blown out on the net for $200US or less. If you are interested in a really good...

Review: Conclusion: Speakers are dead!

Analysis
I currently own an excellent pair of Klipsch speakers and I've recently auditioned some very expensive speakers, the B&W 803's (see the review here:

Epinions Comfortable Marvels

by  shivohum,  Oct 25, 1999
Pros: Incredible sound, incredible comfort
Cons: Price, some may prefer Grados or Etymotics
Review: There are three elements I looked at when choosing these headphones: audio quality, comfort, and their comparability to Grado headphones. I'll also comment on their comparison to the Etymotic ER-4S. For more information on all these headphones, visit...

Epinions The Best You Can Get

by  Tomo_Ishigami,  Aug 15, 1999
Pros: One of the best headphone money can get you. Flat response. Airy and Clear.
Cons: Require more power to drive these things. Using this directly off of a potable CD player is out of the question.
Review: 11/28/99 Please forgive me for having typoes here. I am sorry to all of those who mistakenly thought this was not so expensive. HD580 is not cheap. It is rather expensive.

These I don't have, but I tried them out at store.

Pretty...

Epinions WOW, simply WOW

by  eeks,  Dec 31, 1999
Pros: Beautiful full range of sounds, Circumaural design, Durable and Comfortable construction, Long cord, modular design
Cons: Price OUCH
Review: I had never had a real nice pair of headphones in my life. I had used an assortment of earbuds and crapphones, and I think I had managed to break every pair (my best move is crushing them under my chair by accident). So last spring I set out to get the...
