I bought my first router after much research and decided to go with the Belkin Pre-N wireless router. Setup was relatively easy. I had one issue with some encryption numbers but tech support was able to help me out within a reasonable amount of time. I run an ebay business at home as a side job and have no problems whatsoever running it and watching tv on the couch at nights. The range is great. I live in a 3400 square foot house with 2 levels and the laptop gets a great signal from ANYWHERE in the house. Of course, it picks up signal from 5 or 6 other houses in the neighborhood. Security encryption a definite must. Recently I was granted a laptop at work and I am able to plug in or wirelessly connect from home so multiple computers on this router poses no problems so far. In 6 months I have only had to reset the router and/or modem only twice. The input/output speeds are very quick and I have been 99% satisfied. My wife is a little more impatient and she can be heard banging the mouse on the desk about once a week. I tell her that banging the poor mouse won't make it go faster, but she still does it anyway. i guess it make her feel better. The technology of routers these days is far enough advanced to expect a consistent and powerful signal for the average user. As long as your expectations are set correctly you will be satisfied. By that I mean you understand that it is a wireless solution and that 100% reliablilty is impossible. However, 98% is realistic and that is what I've gotten from my router.
